If you think, you are late. If you are late, you use strength. If you use strength, you get tired. And if you get tired, you die!Saulo Ribeiro
29th July 2017 - reached 700 hours of BJJ training.
I won silver by default in the advanced female category (I’m not advanced) after going up against a much more experienced, and much better grappler than myself, Rachel Klaus Mendlik.

A very brief video showing the armbar to cross leg armbar from guard.

I’m really getting into leg locks at the moment, with a LOT to learn still. This video was handy to show me different entries and techniques and to help me recognise them in live rolling scenarios and practice them further.

One of my faves…
I like to set myself regular BJJ goals, which might be for the day, the week or the month. With a brand new year ahead and a little more BJJ training under my belt, I wanted to set some bigger and more general goals to work towards.

My first ever competition was at the Pan Pacific Championships in October 2016.
I drew the extra fight in my weight class, so this is my first fight to get into the main brackets.
A strong body is a good asset. A strong mind is a very good asset.Rickson Gracie
It wasn’t until I received my fourth stripe on my white belt back in September that the deep desire to achieve a blue belt went right out the window.

Match 2 at the Pan Pacific Championships, 2016.
I started jiu-jitsu at 29 and always said I would never compete as it didn’t interest me. I love to train, and I’m careful to avoid injury; I also thought I was too old to compete.

17th November 2016 - reached 500 hours of BJJ training.
I have been training for a year and a half and currently ranked as a white belt with four stripes. Weighing around 51kg on an average day, I am the smallest adult in my club with most of the teenagers weighing more that me. We’re lucky to have a range of ranks and variable body types to train with, and that’s taught me a lot so far on my little (no pun intended) jiu-jitsu journey.

Because a couple who rolls together, stays together!
The same week I split my eyebrow open, hubby accidentally busts my lip too. We both agreed I should wear my BJJ hoody all week so people understand it’s not domestic violence…

I love Jason’s compilation videos and find these are the most helpful to watch right before rolling so I have a range of submissions fresh in my mind.
I’m so proud of this girl for getting silver at the Pan Pacific Championships, 2015.
5th October 2015 - I received my second stripe on my white belt.
